Twilio CRM Integration

SMS and voice API

Twilio is the most widely used cloud communications platform, offering APIs for SMS, MMS, voice, WhatsApp, and email. Many businesses already own Twilio numbers for existing apps or workflows. Connecting your Twilio account to WellPlan lets you send and receive SMS and MMS, place and answer voice calls, and run conversational workflows using numbers you already control. Conversations land in the unified inbox alongside WhatsApp, email, and social messages, with each contact's full history in one timeline. Teams keep their carrier compliance and number inventory in Twilio while WellPlan handles the day-to-day messaging UI.

Common use cases

Send SMS at scale from existing Twilio numbers

A multi-location healthcare group already owns Twilio long codes for each clinic. WellPlan connects to the Twilio account and sends appointment reminders and reschedule prompts through the right local number per location, while replies route to the unified inbox.

Handle inbound calls with menu and routing

A home services company uses Twilio for its main business line. WellPlan answers calls, plays an IVR menu, routes by skill, and falls back to voicemail-to-text, with each call attached to the matching contact and an automatic follow-up SMS if the call is missed.

Run a verified WhatsApp sender via Twilio

A travel agency uses Twilio's WhatsApp Business API integration. Approved templates send booking confirmations and reminders through Twilio's number, while inbound replies during the 24-hour session land in WellPlan's inbox for two-way chat.

How setup works

  1. 1Sign in to your Twilio Console and locate the Account SID and Auth Token.
  2. 2Open WellPlan's Integrations settings and paste the Twilio credentials.
  3. 3Select the Twilio numbers you want to use inside WellPlan and configure messaging or voice routing.
  4. 4Send a test SMS and place a test call to confirm both inbound and outbound flows work end-to-end.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to register for A2P 10DLC in the US?+

Yes. The US carriers require A2P 10DLC registration for business SMS sent over standard 10-digit long codes. Twilio handles the registration process, and you must complete it for your brand and campaigns to avoid filtering, throttling, or per-message fees on unregistered traffic.

Will Twilio billing change when I connect WellPlan?+

Twilio continues to bill you directly for usage on numbers and calls in your account. WellPlan is just the UI sitting on top of that traffic. Some features such as voice recording or transcription may use additional Twilio capabilities billed in the usual way.

Can I keep using Twilio for other apps too?+

Yes. Twilio numbers and accounts aren't exclusive to one tool. Many teams have Twilio serving WellPlan for messaging and voice while a separate internal app continues to use the same account for notifications or two-factor authentication.

Does this support Twilio's WhatsApp integration?+

Yes. If you have a Twilio WhatsApp sender approved by Meta, you can route inbound and outbound WhatsApp through WellPlan using Twilio as the provider. Pre-approved message templates and the 24-hour session window rules still apply as defined by Meta.
